Will a 20 mm Pixel Light Fit Your Sign Panel? Test Before Cutting

A dotted RGB sign can look convincing in a drawing, then fail at the first panel: the light sits proud, the fixing does not grip, or the cable has nowhere to go. LIKELIGHT lists its L-C-20-SK6812-WWA as a 20 mm RGB point. Treat it as a candidate for a visible sign dot, and approve it in your actual panel before ordering repeated holes. The 20 mm description is a product size, not a published drilling diameter or dot spacing.

Official product photo shows the point’s appearance. Use an exact-version drawing and sample for the panel dimensions.

Start with the finished sign face

Mark each intended dot on the artwork and identify the viewing side. If you want separate colour-changing points rather than one continuous glowing line, this RGB pixel family is a sensible sample candidate. SK6812 is the chip that receives colour-control data; its name does not specify the hole size, connector wiring or your controller’s compatibility.

Send a front view and one cross-section showing panel thickness, any diffuser or protective face, and the space behind it. Ask LIKELIGHT for the exact head, retaining method, required opening, cable exit and connector envelope. Keep body diameter, centre-to-centre spacing and cutout as separate dimensions.

Make one real hole before making hundreds

Cut one representative panel piece only after receiving the drawing. Fit the actual lamp, route its cable and try the intended fixing. Check the front appearance from the customer’s viewing distance, then reach the rear to see whether a failed point could be removed without damaging the face.

The product page lists DC5V, 0.3 W per point and IP67 for this model. Those values help identify the candidate, but neither the IP label nor a product photo proves that your cut panel, field connector or power/control assembly has the same protection. Confirm the ordered electrical version and assembled connection before a wet-location sign is approved.

Turn the approved sample into a quote

Once the mounted sample looks right, freeze the point map and the actual panel opening. Ask for a quotation that names the exact lamp version and separately lists the number of points, fixing parts, leads/connectors, controller, 5 V supply arrangement and spare points. The supplier should return the wiring and feed plan for your layout; the catalogue point rating is not a permitted chain length.

For the first message, send the sign artwork or point map, a panel cross-section or photo, approximate point quantity and destination. Ask for a dimensional drawing and one matched sample first. This is enough to screen fit without inventing a hole diameter or a production promise.

Questions buyers ask

Is 20 mm the panel hole size?

No. The page describes a 20 mm product, but does not release a cutout. Use the exact-version drawing and one test opening.

Can I use the product photo to approve the fixing?

No. The photo identifies appearance; it does not show the panel thickness, retention method or rear connector clearance.

Does SK6812 mean my current controller will work?

Not by itself. Confirm the supplied wiring, colour order and controller output on a matched sample.

Approve one mounted point, then price the panel

Send the point map, panel section, approximate quantity and destination. Ask LIKELIGHT for the exact cutout/fixing drawing, one sample and a quote covering the complete point-light system.
