Worked example

Illustrative only: 36W × 70% = 25.2W heat; at 1.5°C/W the rise is 37.8°C and at 45°C ambient the screen is 82.8°C. Replace assumptions with approved data.

Evidence limits

LM-80 applies to LED packages/modules, not complete-luminaire lifetime [S2][S3]. Verify driver, seals, optics and installation.

Do not approve when

  • No defined temperature point or Tj correlation.
  • No worst-case mounting/solar test.
  • TM-21 duration or component identity is missing.
