Bumper Car LED Lighting Retrofit: Test One Vehicle Before a Fleet Order

Bumper Car LED Lighting Retrofit: Test One Vehicle Before a Fleet Order

Start with one car, not a fleet-wide order

Replacing decorative lights across a bumper-car fleet can multiply a small fitting mistake. Start with one representative vehicle and its actual body, existing supply and cable route. LIKELIGHT’s D47 RGB pixel tube is a product direction to discuss if the ride manufacturer and qualified project team accept the proposed change. A catalog picture alone cannot approve a retrofit on a moving ride.

The listed D47 tube has a 47 mm outside diameter, 32 mm inside diameter and DC12V input. The page also lists 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 m lengths, but it does not pair every length with the stated pixel count and power. Ask for the exact ordered length and its electrical data before matching a power supply or controller.

Refitting a bumper-car fleet?

Send one car photo, fleet count and current power details to discuss a representative D47 sample.

Survey the vehicles before choosing a sample

Photograph the current light position on a few cars, including any different vehicle versions. Record the space available, how the tube is held, where its cable enters and how a damaged section can be reached. The same fleet may contain replacement panels or repairs that make one mounting kit unsuitable for every car.

Make a simple vehicle list: car identifier, number of light positions, desired visible length and any different body or wiring arrangement. This gives LIKELIGHT a useful basis for discussing a sample and keeps the eventual quote tied to actual vehicles rather than one total metre figure.

Test the light and the vehicle together

An authorised ride engineer should review the proposed mounts, protrusions, cable protection and electrical change before a pilot is installed. On the sample car, check clearance through normal movement, passenger reach, likely impact areas, cleaning exposure and access for replacement. Keep all required signals and safety markings visible. If the ride approval cannot be obtained, do not extend the decorative retrofit to the fleet.

Then judge the effect from the queue and the operating area. Run the requested colours and movement on the actual controller. A pixel is a separately controlled light segment; its visual rhythm depends on the ordered tube and controller settings. Check the connector direction and wiring diagram on the sample rather than assuming another 12V tube will plug in.

Turn the approved sample into a repeatable order

Ask for a written record of the exact tube version, length, pixel arrangement, loaded power, connector pinout, controller pairing, mounting method and sample revision. The D47 listing describes 60 pixels and 43.2 W per tube, yet does not identify which listed length those figures describe. Use the approved version’s data, not a value borrowed from another length.

Build the fleet schedule from the sample: tubes and leads per vehicle, approved brackets or other mounting parts, controller and power items, labelled replacement sections and spare quantity. State which items LIKELIGHT would supply and which the installer or ride owner will provide. A unit price for tubes alone is not a comparable installed-system quotation.

What to send LIKELIGHT

Send a photo or sketch of one representative car, the number of cars and light positions, any known existing voltage, and the destination country. If cars differ, mention the variants. Ask which D47 version is suitable for a controlled pilot and what information is needed for a complete fleet quote. Drawings and the ride manufacturer’s modification requirements can follow during technical review.

Before the fleet order, compare the supplied sample with the written schedule and keep the approved revision with the maintenance record. The final decision needs the ride owner, manufacturer and qualified local reviewer to approve the actual mounting and electrical design; LIKELIGHT’s product listing is not a ride-safety approval.
