Mechanism

IP tests, liquid ingress, vapor breathing and condensation answer different questions. Condensation is plausible when a surface falls below the dew point.

Calculation

Illustrative case: 25°C and 80% RH gives about 21.3°C dew point. An 18°C inner lens is below it; this is not a product result.

Validation

1. Freeze enclosure and cable configuration.
2. Log humidity, dew point and surface temperature.
3. Run approved IP and damp-heat cycles.
4. Inspect and archive evidence.

Do not approve

• IP label is the only evidence.
• Vent part and position are unknown.
• No acceptance criteria exist.

FAQ

Can a vent guarantee zero condensation?

No. It can reduce pressure and trapped vapor only when properly selected.
