Can Several App LED Curtains Work as One Display?

Decide what “working together” means
Several windows showing the same pattern and one image travelling across those windows are different buying requests. Decide which result you need before comparing the price of curtain sets.
LIKELIGHT’s app-controlled colour curtain is a candidate for decorative displays. If the image must cross between sets, ask for that exact multi-set demonstration before a batch order. An app-control label is not enough to establish it.
One image, or the same effect repeated?
Send the layout size, set count, intended effect and destination. Ask which curtain and control setup can be demonstrated.
Discuss My Curtain LayoutRepeated effects or a shared image area?
An LED curtain is a hanging arrangement of light points. Here, RGB means it produces coloured light. The useful question is whether each curtain repeats a complete effect, or contributes a different part of one larger picture.
Think of an arrow. In a repeated display, every curtain can show its own complete arrow. In a joined display, one arrow travels from the first curtain to the next, with its position and timing continuing across the boundary.
That shared image area is often called a canvas. Published grouping instructions show why repeating synchronized effects and joining devices into one layout are separate functions. [S2] Ask for the result you want, rather than only asking for “sync”.
| Desired result | Ask the supplier to demonstrate |
|---|---|
| Similar decoration in separate shop windows | The chosen effect on all sets together, with the timing you need |
| One graphic or animation across adjacent curtains | A single image crossing each set boundary in the correct order |
| Different content in different windows | Selecting each set or group without changing the others |
What the LIKELIGHT app curtain offers as a starting point
The L-C-WS2811 curtain is publicly listed with 400 LEDs per set, app and remote control, music effects and DC5V USB input. [S1] It is worth discussing for a decorative window or event backdrop.
Those features do not by themselves answer the joined-display question. Before buying several sets for one picture, identify the supplied app, controller and software version, then ask to see that actual combination working together.
Music sync means an effect responds to music; it is not proof that an image will move correctly from one curtain to another. Likewise, 400 LEDs alone does not give the curtain’s rows, columns or physical dimensions.
If a joined image is essential and this kit cannot demonstrate it, change the proposed control arrangement before ordering. A different digital curtain family can be discussed with a layout and controller plan, not assumed to be a compatible add-on. [S4]
A useful sample test needs a boundary between sets
One set can show you its colour, basic patterns and operator controls. To check a joined image, the sample needs more than one set: a single curtain has no set-to-set boundary to test.
Ask for adjacent samples using the exact proposed controller and app version. Put them in the intended orientation and record the width, height and gap. Testing an easy preset is less useful than trying your required effect.
- Show a large arrow or colour block crossing from one curtain to the next. Check order, direction and whether the motion continues as you expect.
- If repeating effects is the goal, start all sample sets and watch them together. Record whether the timing stays acceptable during a continuous run.
- Switch the sample installation off and restart it using the agreed procedure. Check which content returns and whether staff must reconnect or rebuild a group.
- Restart one set through its normal power control. Check how it rejoins, and whether a staff member can recover the display without a technician’s phone.
Agree the run duration and acceptable behaviour before the test; no universal timing tolerance is proposed here. A two-set test checks a boundary, but does not establish the maximum number of sets a larger project can operate.
Keep a short video and note the app, controller, settings and content file. These records describe the tested arrangement, making them more useful for repeat orders than a video without equipment details.
Keep grouping, wiring and power as separate questions
Putting devices into one app group does not mean their light wires can be joined or that they share a power source. Manufacturer instructions treat software grouping and physical extension separately. [S3]
For the proposed LIKELIGHT kit, ask how each set is powered, which adapters are required and whether any extension is approved. Do not connect extra strings or substitute a larger shared USB supply by guesswork.
The curtain page lists IP54 and says to keep the controller and USB connector away from direct water. [S1] Show where those parts will sit. A sheltered window display and an exposed outdoor display are not the same installation request.
The grouping references in this article describe another manufacturer’s system. They explain the distinction, not compatibility with LIKELIGHT or a promise that the quoted kit supports those functions.
Make the quotation match the demonstration
A set price alone may omit adapters, extra control equipment, mounting, content preparation or staff setup. Ask which items LIKELIGHT supplies and which must be sourced or installed locally.
Request the curtain and controller versions shown in the demonstration, the layout and set count, the power arrangement and an itemised sample/project price. If the controller changes, repeat the relevant demonstration rather than assuming the result carries over.
For chain stores, also ask what staff must do after a restart and how a replacement controller receives the correct content. A display that only works on the demonstrator’s phone may create extra work at every site.
FAQ
Can I buy two sets and assume they form one wider screen?
No. Confirm the shared-image function with the actual proposed equipment. Separate sets placed together do not automatically become one display.
Does music sync mean the curtains share one image?
No. Sound-responsive effects and a correctly joined image are different requirements. Demonstrate the one your project needs.
Does 400 LEDs mean a 20-by-20 display?
Not by itself. Ask for the actual row and column arrangement, physical dimensions and connection direction before preparing artwork.
Can app grouping prove that I may extend the light wires?
No. Ask for the approved power and connection method separately; software grouping is not a wiring instruction.
Is a successful two-set test enough for a large installation?
It checks a set boundary, not the system’s full capacity. Agree how the intended set count and operating environment will be verified before buying the batch.
