Does IP67 on a Ride Pixel Light Cover the Installed Ride?

Replacing or building coloured points on an outdoor ride? LIKELIGHT’s 100 × 50 mm L-D-10018-RGB is a sample candidate when the project needs a DC24V programmable RGB point. Its page lists IP67, a protection code for an enclosure under specified conditions. Before buying a ride-wide quantity, decide what else must be protected: the cable exit, connector, panel opening and power box. Approve one finished bay, not a loose lamp on a table.

Ask for an installed-bay sample

Start with the part that gets wet

Show the supplier where rain, cleaning water and splash can reach the ride. Ask whether the lamp will sit behind a covered panel, on an exposed fascia or in a section that is opened for maintenance. These positions can need different joint and access details even when the same lamp body is used.

The product page lists IP67 for L-D-10018-RGB. IEC 60529 classifies protection provided by enclosures. That label alone cannot tell you how a new field splice, mounting hole or separate power enclosure will behave after installation.

Build one bay the way the crew will build the ride

Mount a short group of points on a representative panel using the intended leads, connectors, cable exits and fixings. Record which joints are factory supplied and which the installer makes. Let the project engineer set the relevant inspection or water-exposure procedure; do not improvise an immersion test from the IP number.

After the agreed check, inspect for water entry, trapped moisture and accessible replacement. Then run a simple red, green and blue sequence to confirm the sample still operates and data reaches the following point. One working sample is not a certification report, but it can expose an unclear assembly boundary before a large order.

Quote the finished bay and who supplies each part

The listed product is a DC24V, 18-LED RGB point with UCS2903 control and a 100 × 50 mm body. Ask LIKELIGHT for the exact ordered version, drawing, mating connector, cable exit and instructions for any factory-sealed joint. Ask the installer to identify the panel opening, field splice, power enclosure and service method.

Compare complete quotes for points, connectors, cable, power distribution, control, mounting, sealing work, commissioning, spare points and replacement access. If the supplier only prices the loose point, the buyer still cannot compare the installed work or assign responsibility for a wet joint.

Decide whether this point is a fit

Use L-D-10018-RGB as a sample candidate when its visible size, RGB effect and DC24V system suit the ride and the finished bay can be approved. If the installation calls for a different exposure, impact or cleaning requirement, request a documented alternative and have the project engineer assess it. Do not treat IP67 as a ride safety or impact rating.

Questions buyers ask

Does IP67 cover the whole ride?

No. Ask which exact lamp assembly was rated and assess field joints, openings, power equipment and service access as part of the installed bay.

Can we test only one loose point?

A loose point can show colour and control. The water and maintenance decision needs a representative mounted bay with the real connectors and cable exits.

Will one bad joint stop the rest of the lights?

That depends on the actual power and UCS2903 data wiring. Include a downstream operation check and ask for the approved wiring drawing.

Send the ride bay, not a long specification sheet

Send a panel photo or drawing, approximate point count, where water or cleaning reaches the lights, and the destination country. Ask for the exact L-D-10018-RGB version, a representative mounted sample and a quote that separates factory-supplied and site-made connections.
