Seven LEDs in One 50 mm Pixel: How Many Points Do You Control?

Your facade drawing shows one bright dot at each marked position. The LIKELIGHT L-C-50-LS-RGB head contains seven RGB LEDs, but those seven emitters should not be entered as seven separately controlled dots in a controller quotation. Count the physical heads on your drawing first. Then ask for a short programmed sample that shows exactly how many independently changing positions the ordered string produces.

Ask for a mapped sample string

One head, seven light sources, one unanswered control question

The product page identifies a 50 mm RGB point with seven SMD5050 LEDs, DC24V and a UCS1903 control chip. Here “LED” means a physical light source inside the clear head. A “controlled point” means the smallest position your controller can change separately. The page describes control by pixel, but does not publish an order-specific address map or controller file.

If your artwork has 40 marked heads, that is 40 visible dot positions. At seven LEDs per head, it contains 280 physical emitters. The second number is not a controller-capacity figure. Treat the mapping of those 40 heads as a question for the exact supplied string and controller, rather than multiplying addresses by seven. The 40-head example is hypothetical; it is not a recommended layout.

Approve the motion on a short sample

Ask LIKELIGHT to connect a representative string to the proposed controller. Request a simple test file: first head red, second blue, third green, then move the single lit position down the line. Watch whether each visible head behaves as the artwork expects and record the order from the input end.

UCS1903 names the control family; it does not by itself prove compatibility with a particular controller output, connector pinout, colour order or software setting. Save a video of the approved sequence and the wiring/label photograph for the order. If the buyer needs a finer effect inside each 50 mm head, ask whether this exact version supports it before promising that effect to the client.

Price the controller from the approved point map

After the test, ask the quotation to state the number of physical heads, the verified independently controlled positions, the controller model and its outputs, the string order, and who supplies the final effect file. Those details make two controller offers comparable. Node diameter and LED count alone do not describe the animation resolution.

The product page lists IP65 for the light and leaves pixel pitch and power consumption unspecified. Set point spacing from the project drawing and sample. Obtain the rated load and feed plan of the actual order before selecting power supplies; do not estimate system watts from seven LED packages or assume the IP marking covers field joints.

Questions buyers ask

Are seven LEDs seven controllable pixels?

No such mapping is established by the LED count. Seven is the published number of physical emitters in each head; verify the separately controlled positions on the ordered sample.

Can I use 40 heads to budget 280 controller pixels?

No. Forty hypothetical heads contain 280 LED packages, but the controller count depends on the actual control map and must be shown in a sample test.

Does the page tell me how many watts the installation needs?

No. Its power field is incomplete. Request load and feed details for the exact quantity and supplied version.

Send the point map, then approve the test sequence

For a first enquiry, send the drawing with point positions, approximate number of heads, the effect you need and destination country. Include the current controller model if one must be reused. Ask LIKELIGHT for a matched sample, a position-by-position control demonstration and an itemised system quote.
