20mm SK6812 RGBWW Pixel Dot Lights: DC5V Power and Facade Spacing Guide
A facade pixel project usually fails at system level, not because one node cannot light. Excessive spacing leaves visible gaps at close range, while spacing that is too tight adds nodes, data, wiring and labor without necessarily improving the distant view.
This guide uses this LIKELIGHT model's published 20mm, SK6812, RGBWW, DC5V, 0.3W per node, 3 SMD5050 and IP67 data to connect the visual decision with power, control and outdoor installation.
Convert center spacing into node count
Node count follows installation length and center spacing. A 10m line at 100mm centers needs about 100 nodes; at 50mm centers it needs about 200. Doubling the nodes also increases nominal load, data volume, connection points and mounting work.
This is an initial layout calculation. Corners, end allowances, zones and irregular geometry change the final quantity, so quotation should use a dimensioned point layout rather than floor area alone.

Start with viewing distance, not node diameter
The 20mm dimension describes the node body, not the center spacing the facade must use. Outline chases, sparse star fields and low-resolution graphics require different spacing; closer viewing normally demands a tighter grid, subject to brightness, background and content.
Mark the main viewing zones on the elevation and compare two or three full-size spacing samples. Reduce spacing or change the optical treatment when close viewers see unacceptable gaps; avoid an unnecessarily dense grid when the project is mainly seen from far away.
Plan SK6812 cascade data correctly
SK6812 uses cascade-pixel logic. Plan pixel order, data direction, node count per controller port, mapping and zones rather than assigning an independent DMX address to every node.
Confirm controller compatibility, refresh requirements and failure behavior with the final sample. The wiring drawing should show the data origin, direction, branches and service points before installation.
IP67 still needs an outdoor connection system
The page lists IP67, a -40°C to +60°C operating range, 50000 hours, CE and RoHS for the stated configuration. Match final certification and environmental requirements to the released order documents.
IP67 on the node does not automatically protect field connectors, cable exits or branches. Drip paths, connector orientation, strain relief, mounting and replacement access belong to the complete outdoor system.

Power planning for a 0.3W DC5V node
The page rates each node at 0.3W and DC5V, giving 0.3W ÷ 5V = 0.06A theoretical current. One hundred nodes equal 30W and about 6A; two hundred equal 60W and about 12A.
These are theoretical values from the published rating; RGBWW channel mix, brightness and programming affect actual demand. Since voltage drop follows current × line resistance, divide long outlines into power circuits and measure loaded voltage at the far end.

This model combines a 20mm body, 3 SMD5050 LEDs, SK6812, DC5V and 0.3W per node. It can suit facade grids, outlines, signage contours and decorative projects needing independent pixel animation plus RGBWW color options.
It is not the first choice where segmented power is impossible, many connections cannot be serviced, or close viewers expect high-resolution video detail. Those projects need a spacing trial or a different display structure.

Send a dimensioned point layout, total nodes, zone lengths, candidate spacing, viewing distance, animation reference, controller, feed positions, cable and connector direction, substrate, exposure and schedule.
