Clear or Milky Meteor Tubes? Approve the Finish Before a Venue Order

Ordering a ceiling of moving light tubes? First decide what the tubes should look like when guests see them up close and when the lights are off. LIKELIGHT lists transparent, milky-white and silver finishes for its L-R-D20 meteor tube. For a visible hanging feature, compare the actual finishes in one small mock-up before ordering dozens of identical tubes. If the venue wants a soft line rather than visible LED parts, start the sample discussion with milky white; approve the final appearance by sight, not by a catalogue name.

Ask about matched finish samples

What the cover changes for a buyer

A transparent tube leaves the inner LED strips visible. A milky-white cover hides more of the internal structure and changes how the light line looks. The silver option is also named on the product page, but its unlit appearance and lit output need a physical sample. None of these descriptions is a measured brightness ranking.

For a hotel atrium or event venue, look at the proposed tube from the guest entrance, the nearest balcony and the service position. Switch it off in daylight as well as on in the intended show scene. Record which finish the buyer actually approved; a night video alone can hide a daytime mismatch.

Keep the finish test genuinely comparable

Ask for the same L-R-D20 length, voltage and pixel configuration in each sample, with the same controller scene and mounting height. The product page lists a 20 mm body, UCS1903 RGB control, 12 V or 24 V options, 10 or 20 pixels per metre and 0.5–2 m length examples. These are options, not a single pre-approved combination.

Pixel means one separately controlled part of the animated tube. Ask which length and pixel count belong to the offered version, then film the same falling-light pattern on both covers. Check whether the moving point remains legible from the audience position and whether the selected finish still looks right when the effect is paused.

The page title says IP65 while the specification says IP66. For an exposed installation, request the rating evidence for the exact ordered tube and its connectors. Also agree how each hanging tube is supported and replaced; the power lead is not an approved suspension detail.

Turn the approved sample into a repeatable order

Send the venue location, a ceiling photo or simple layout, approximate tube quantity, intended viewing distance and destination country. Ask LIKELIGHT to identify a finish-specific order line and return the selected length, voltage, pixel count, connector, controller setup, fixing method, sample record, spare tubes and an itemised system quote.

Separate tube price from suspension hardware, power distribution, controller, access equipment and replacements. If the proposed finish changes the required show effect or the supplied sample is not the ordered version, pause the batch release and repeat the comparison. The purpose is to copy an approved appearance across the venue, not merely to buy the lowest-price tube.

Questions buyers ask

Is the milky-white tube proven dimmer?

No matched optical measurements are published for these finishes. Compare actual samples under the same scene and viewpoint.

Can I order mixed finishes under one model name?

Ask for separate finish-specific order lines, quantities and labelled sample records so the batch matches the approved layout.

Does the listed IP rating approve the whole hanging system?

No. The title and specification disagree on the tube rating, and connectors, suspension and power equipment need their own project review.

Request a finish sample that can become the order reference

Send a venue photo or layout, intended viewing position, approximate quantity and destination. Ask whether matched clear and milky-white samples are available, then request an itemised quote for the approved version.
