Neon lights - how they work

When the external power circuit is connected, the output terminal of the transformer will generate high voltage of several thousand volts or even tens of thousands of volts. When this high voltage is applied to the electrodes at both ends of the neon tube, the charged particles in the neon tube are accelerated and fly towards the electrodes in the high voltage electric field, which can excite and produce a large number of electrons. These excited electrons are accelerated in a high-voltage electric field and collide with neon atoms in the lamp. If the collision energy between these electrons and free gas atoms is large enough, gas atoms can ionize into positive ions and electrons, which is the ionization phenomenon of gas. When charged particles collide with gas atoms, excess energy is released in the form of photons, thus completing the entire illumination process of the neon light.
Neon: Originally considered a natural phenomenon, clouds in the sky display colorful light. Rainbow: It is also a natural phenomenon, which means that rainbows are also colorful. Neon lights: Colored lights used at night to attract customers or decorate night scenes, hence the name "neon lights".
